The Margarita cocktail is a staple in Mexican cuisine and one of the best ways to elevate your meals. You can enjoy this classic cocktail with only three ingredients and a few minutes of prep time, making it perfect for any occasion. Let’s get mixing!
INGREDIENTS
- 4 ounces (120ml) blanco tequila
- 1 ½ ounces (45ml) fresh lime juice from 2 limes (+ 1 lime wedgeand 2 lime wheels for garnish
- 2 ounces (60ml) orange liquor (also known as triple sec), such as Cointreau
- optional: 1 tablespoon coarse salt, for glass rims
* This recipe works best with high-quality tequila. If you're using a budget brand that's a little harsh, swap the proportions for the orange liquor and lime juice and add 1/4 ounce simple syrup to each drink.
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP #1: Run the lime wedge around the outer rims of 2 glasses and dip the rims in salt. Set aside.
STEP #2: In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, orange liquor, and lime juice. Fill with ice and shake until thoroughly chilled, about 15 seconds (the bottom of a metal shaker should frost over).
If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can use a jar, a protein shaker, or a blender container. Just make sure that it’s not leaking before fully committing to the shake and that there’s enough room for ice.
STEP #3: Fill glasses with fresh ice and strain the margarita into both glasses. Garnish with lime wheels and serve.
